A figure of French athletics from the 1970s has died, Jacques Rousseau died at 72.

Jacques Rousseau was a figure on the French athletics team in the 1970s. Long holder of the French record in the specialty, he won three European champion titles (including two indoors in 1975 and 1976). “Holder for 21 years of the French record in the long jump with 8 m 26 (2nd world performance of the year 1997 behind the US Olympic champion Arnie Robinson, who also died in his 73rd year in 2020), the Guadeloupean from Basse- Terre was also a three-time European champion and 4th at the 1976 Olympic Games (Montreal). He finished 10th in Munich in 1972.
