Jérôme Fourquet is director of the “opinion and business strategies” department of Ifop and author of “l’Archipel français” (Seuil, 2019). He returns to the reactions aroused by the death of young Nahel, killed by police fire on Tuesday morning in Nanterre in the Hauts-de-Seine, and sheds light on the security situation in working-class neighborhoods. According to him, the capacity to accept authority, to conform to rules “has diminished in a whole section of society”.
