Kozhikode: The police termed the death of a seven-year-old boy in Atholi as murder. It is suspected that the mother killed the child by suffocation. In the incident, the child’s mother was taken into custody by Atholi police. Hamdan, a 2nd XAS student, died. The incident happened this morning.

The postmortem revealed that he died of asphyxiation. In the subsequent investigation, the police said that the mother killed the child by suffocating her with a pillow. The police informed that the mother was seeking treatment for mental illness.

Accused who abducted and raped girls gets two double life sentences

Malappuram: In two cases of abducting girls and sexually assaulting them multiple times, the accused has been given two double life sentences. Perinthalmanna Kakuth Kishkekara Rajeeb (38) was convicted in the case of molesting nine and eleven-year-old girls. Perinthalmanna Fast Track Special Court Judge Anil Kumar gave the verdict. In 2016, two cases were registered by the Perinthalmanna police.

In this, the eleven-year-old girl was brutally attacked by threatening to draw her with an iron wire and to slaughter her like a chicken with a knife. A nine-year-old girl was sexually assaulted from 2012 to 2016 at the shop owned by the accused and at the house of the accused’s brother where work was being done.

In the nine-year-old’s case, he was awarded double life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh under POCSO sections. In this same I.P.C. According to the two sections of the Act, the punishment is imprisonment for ten and seven years and a fine of ten thousand rupees each. This is according to the sections for kidnapping and intimidation. The prosecution examined 14 witnesses and produced 13 documents.

In the second case as well, he was given double life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,60,000 under POCSO sections. I.P.C. According to this, it is punishable by ten or seven years imprisonment and a fine of ten thousand rupees each. The fine amount should be paid as compensation to the children. Out of this 20 witnesses were examined. 19 documents were produced. In the cases Inspectors A.M. Siddique, Saju K. Abraham and Jobi Thomas filed the charge sheet. Special Public Prosecutor Sapna P. for prosecution in both the cases. Parameswaram and Adv. BA Allur also appeared.
