Islamabad: The death toll from heavier-than-usual monsoon rains in Pakistan has risen to 1,000, officials said on Sunday. It has been described as “a serious climate disaster” for the country.

Monsoon rains started in Pakistan last June and the country received much more than usual. Due to this, floods occurred in various areas.

The rains and floods were so intense that the rescue teams were unable to carry out rescue operations in the affected areas.

More than 1000 people have been killed across the country due to the continuous monsoon rains. Many people were injured. Thousands have been forced to flee their homes.

After that, disaster emergency was declared in various parts of the country.

Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority has announced the death toll since this year’s monsoon started earlier than usual.

The unprecedented monsoon has affected all four provinces of the country. 3,451 km due to flooding due to heavy rains. Roads, 147 bridges, 170 shops and more than 9 lakh residences have been affected. Nearly 3,00,000 homes are missing, many roads and power have been cut.

Army personnel are engaged in rescue and relief operations across the country.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Army said that 22 tourists who were trapped in a valley in the north of Pakistan were safely rescued by air.
