Seven people have died from the explosion and subsequent fire at the Hacienda La Rojeña facilities of the Casa Cuervo tequila company in the municipality of Tequila, Jalisco.
Jorge Rodolfo Ochoa Rodarte had been transferred in serious condition to the facilities of the IMSS Western Medical Center in Guadalajara, Jalisco, with burns on 70 percent of his body.
His brother José Arturo dedicated some farewell words to him on his social networks: “I’m going to miss you a lot, damn Jorge, you went ahead in this life, I’m going to miss you a lot, bastard, but I hope and wherever you are, I want you to know that I am, was and always so grateful to have been your brother, and I’m proud to have shared so many things and happy moments that I will never forget.”
On the other hand, it is reported that the bodies of the first six people who died in the accident were handed over, according to information from the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences, the procedure with the relatives concluded at the facilities of the Forensic Medical Service in the town of Magdalena in the Valles del Jalisco area.
This week the funerals of Ernesto “L”, 36 years old, and Héctor Adrián “P”, 19 years old, were held. Both lived in the municipality of Tequila. Their funeral masses were held at the Perpetuo Socorro temple in the town.
The José Cuervo Foundation issued a statement expressing its solidarity with the families of the deceased, who were carrying out maintenance work on the stills when the container exploded on July 23.
The foundation announced that it is working on a solidarity program that will be announced in the coming days.
The still that exploded and fell on vehicles in a parking lot has already been removed, forensic examinations have been completed, and the pipes have been cleaned.
This is how the reopening and operation of the establishments in the first square of Tequila, and its town hall, was allowed.
Municipal authorities report that normal activity has now resumed without any risk.
