Death toll from week of Darfur clashes now at least 125 | Sudan: Conflict between the two sides

by time news

Khartoum,

Sudan is located in Northeast Africa. The country has been in a state of civil war since 2003. The war forced African tribes to flee their homes and take refuge elsewhere. In particular, millions of African tribes have been displaced from the southern province of Darfur.

But now the war has subsided and the displaced are returning to their homelands. But the Arabs are occupying already abandoned areas and engaging in agriculture.

Thus there are occasional disputes between the own owners of the land and the occupiers of the land abandoned by the war. Clashes between the two sides are taking place during this fight. The conflict has led to the formation of various insurgent forces on both sides.

Meanwhile, Arab rebels set fire to the homes of African tribesmen in more than 20 villages in the town of Gulbas in western Darfur province.

This was followed by a confrontation between the two sides. As many as 100 people were killed in the clashes until yesterday. The death toll has risen further.

Accordingly, the UN estimates that 125 people have been killed so far in the violence. The Office for Humanitarian Affairs said.

In addition, more than 130 people were injured in the clashes. The army has been concentrated in the area following the conflict. Hundreds of people are fleeing the area where the attack took place.
