The Afghan Tolo News channel said, “An explosion occurred today in the fourth security zone in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, the center of Balkh province in the north of the country.”
The channel reported, citing local sources, that security forces closed the area after the explosion. Which led to overcrowding of vehicles, noting that “preliminary information indicates that two people were killed and others were injured.”
West of the capital, Kabul, an explosion occurred in the Dashtbarshi area, according to the independent Afghan news agency Amag News.
The channel said, “The explosion occurred in the Dasht-e-Parshi area, an area inhabited by a Shiite majority west of the capital, Kabul,” noting that preliminary information indicates that the explosion caused three deaths and five injuries.
There was no comment from the security officials of the Taliban government, which has controlled the country since mid-August 2021 after the withdrawal of American forces.
After the Taliban returned to power, ISIS Khorasan branch claimed responsibility for a number of bloody attacks in several cities, including Kabul, during the past year and a half. Attacks were also carried out on embassies, schools, mosques, and public places in these attacks.
