Putin calls for increasing the production of drones and accelerating the application of advanced technologies in the military field
In another context, Russian President Vladimir Putin called for accelerating the use of advanced technologies in the military sector, and also urged the Military-Technical Complex to work on increasing the production of drones.
“The introduction of advanced technologies and other innovations in the military field must be accelerated,” Putin said at a meeting of the Russian Ministry of Defense Council on Monday.
He stressed that Russia continues military-technical cooperation with its allies, and said: “Most countries in the world are ready to work with Russia, so it is necessary to consolidate military-technical cooperation with it.”
The Russian President urged the military-technical complex to work to increase the production of drones, and said: “It is necessary to increase the production of robotic systems (weapons and automated military equipment) and drones of various categories and types.”
In his speech, he stressed the importance of keeping non-strategic nuclear forces in a state of constant combat readiness and continuing the practice of conducting training for them. He also stressed that the strategic nuclear forces remain one of the main tools for protecting Russian sovereignty, pointing out that the share of modern weapons in these forces amounts to 95%.
He stressed that Russia is not sliding into a large-scale arms race, and called for spending the funds allocated for defense and security wisely. Putin said, “Russia is forced to take additional measures to ensure its security, but it is not sliding into a large-scale arms race.”
Russia is one of the most prominent producers of weapons and military equipment in the world, and according to a report issued by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) this year, Russia occupied third place in the list of the largest arms exporting countries in the world during the period from 2019 to 2023.
