The deaths in Gaza due to Israeli attacks since the start of the war today exceeded 23,000, while the Ministry of Health of the Hamas-controlled Strip recorded 249 deaths and more than 500 injuries during the last day.

“The Israeli occupation committed 17 massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, causing 249 deaths and 510 injuries during the last 24 hours,” declared a Health spokesperson, who specified that the total number of victims since the beginning of the Israeli offensive on October 7 “amounted to 23,084 dead and 58,926 injured.”

This comes as Israel says it has completed the dismantling of most of Hamas’ military structure in northern Gaza and continues a tough offensive in the center and south of the coastal enclave, where most of the attacks are taking place. of fatalities in recent hours.

This morning, the Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, the only one still operational in the Deir Balah district, in the center of the Strip, received 73 dead and almost 100 wounded in recent hours, another indication of the harsh bombings and clashes In the area.

Two days ago, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) already evacuated its staff from the area, “after days of artillery combat” and after Israeli forces had already issued evacuation orders around the medical center. Due to the intensity of the bombing, many of the hospital’s health personnel and some 600 patients were forced to evacuate.

In turn, the Health spokesman, Ashraf al Qudra, assured this Monday that the hospitals in the southern area of Gaza “have lost their capacity to accommodate the wounded in the departments and in intensive care”, while “there is overcrowding massive” and hundreds of people “sleep on the floor of the hallways and patios.

Likewise, according to the UN Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA), only five health centers of the 22 dependent on this entity are now operational in the center and south of the Strip.

On the other hand, according to the World Health Organization, at the beginning of this January only 13 of the 36 hospitals in Gaza were “partially operational”nine in the south and four in the north.

According to the same entity, the nine partially functional hospitals in the south “were at triple capacity, while facing critical shortages of basic supplies and fuel.”

The lack of electricity due to a shortage of fuel, medicine or basic medical supplies, and the attacks by the Israeli Army on facilities have collapsed the Gaza health system, according to the Ministry of Health.

Authorities have asked Egypt for more expeditious measures to evacuate some 6,000 critically injured people who need urgent medical care abroad.
