Political leaders have met with Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman to resolve the existing crisis in the country. The decision to formulate the process and framework for the formation of the interim government has been finalized after meeting with the President.
This information was informed in the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release on Monday (August 5) night.
According to ISPR, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Mirza Abbas of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP); Jatiya Party GM Quader, Mujibul Haque Chunnu and Anisul Islam Mahmud; Maulana Mamunul Haque of Hefazat Islam, Professor of Law Department of Dhaka University. Asif Nazrul, Jonaid Saki of Mass Solidarity Movement, Maulana Syed Faizul Karim of Islamic Governance Movement, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and Hamidur Rahman Azad and other leaders held a meeting with Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman at the army headquarters today to resolve the country’s political crisis.
At the end of the discussion, the army chief told the countrymen in a press briefing that all killings and injustices will be prosecuted. You have faith in the army.
He urged everyone to shun violence and resolve issues peacefully and return home. He also said that he will hold a meeting with student-teacher representatives soon.
The army chief said, ‘situation will return to normal soon.’ He wished for the overall cooperation of the people of all classes and professions of the country, including students, regardless of party affiliation.
