Meghamalai has highways, Manalaru, Venniaru and Iravankalaru dams. Water from Highwayvis Dam reaches Manalaru, Venniaru and Iravankalaru dams through tunnels.
Water was piped from Iravankalaru Dam through dense forest and 35 MW of electricity was generated at Vannathipara Suruliyar Power Station. A year ago, the pipeline from Iravankalaru dam broke. Suruliyar power station has been closed due to this. Due to continuous rains, the water level of Manalaru Dam has risen to 1482 m. If it still rises 10 m., the water should be discharged. Full capacity is reached in a few days. At that time, the power board authorities plan to open the water in the B4 channel that goes from the Iravankalaru dam to the Suruliyaru power station and generate 4 megawatts of power at the Kullappakundanpatti micro power station.
Latest Tamil News When asked in the power board sources, they said, “We are planning to transport water through this B4 canal (the canal connecting Periyar Vaigai Fourth Micro Power Station) to generate power without wasting water.”
