He expressed satisfaction over the historical and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Malaysia and emphasized on regular high-level exchanges, strategic dialogue and strengthening of bilateral institutional framework.
Ratifying the Malaysia-Pakistan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (MPCEPA) signed in Kuala Lumpur on 8 November 2007, the two sides agreed to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation, expand trade, expand cooperation in key sectors and address trade imbalances. Later, the two Prime Ministers attended a ceremony to exchange Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and a letter of cooperation. Memorandum of Understanding on Trade Cooperation between Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and Malaysia External Trade Development Cooperation (MATRADE) and Cooperation in Halal Trade between Pakistan-Malaysia Business Council (PMBC) and Malaysia-Pakistan Business Council (MPBC) MoU was exchanged. A letter of cooperation was also signed between Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also hosted a luncheon in honor of the Prime Minister of Malaysia and his delegation.
