New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry has submitted a letter to the Joint Kisan Morcha stating that it will accept the demands of the farmers. The farmers decided to end the agitation on Thursday if the Center signs in writing that it will accept the demands.

The Central government has informed the farmers that the Haryana and Uttar Pradesh governments have agreed to pay compensation to the families of the farmers killed during the agitation. In addition, the Union Home Ministry has written to the Joint Kisan Morcha with five promises to end the farmers’ strike. Later, Home Minister Amit Shah called agrarian leaders Yudhveer Singh and Balbir Singh Rajewal and explained the situation.

The Centre’s letter was received 10 minutes before the start of the Kisan Morcha meeting in Singhu to discuss further agitation. The farmers replied to this and sent a reply letter to the night center.

Promises of the Center

1. Compensation by the States to the families of the slain farmers

2. Cases can be withdrawn if the agitation ends and they return home.

3. A committee may be set up to examine the support price; This may include farmers’ representatives

4. Public opinion will be sought on the Electricity Amendment Bill; Areas opposed to farmers will be avoided.

5. The Pollution Control Act will eliminate the provision for imposing criminal offenses and fines on farmers. There has been no response to the demand for the removal of Home Minister Ajay Mishra.
