The second round of the Spanish league continued today (Sunday) with particularly interesting games. Atlético Madrid lost for the first time this season, 2:0 to Villarreal, while Atlético Bilbao won 0:1 over Valencia.
Atletico Madrid – Villarreal 2:0
In a meeting between two of the best in Spain, the yellow submarine impressed and won with goals from Yermi Pino (73) and Gerard Moreno (90+7). Both teams possessed the ball 50% of the time and kicked the same amount of times per frame, 5 each.
Villarreal rose, temporarily at least, to first place with 6 points. In the next round, Emery’s boys will meet Getafe. Atlético with 3 points after the victory in the opening round of the season, and before an away game in Valencia.
Athletic Bilbao – Valencia 0:1
Valencia did hold the ball significantly more than its opponent throughout the game, but a goal by Alex Berengor (42) was decisive.
Now Bilbao with four points and before a match against Cadiz, in what was their first win of the season. Valencia with 3 points and before a difficult home game against Atlético Madrid.
