Declare 2022 as the “Year of the Novel”

The Department of Hindu Religious and Cultural Affairs has decided to declare 2022, the bicentennial year of Srila Sri Arumuganavalar Peruman, who dedicated his life for the vegetarian Tamil world, as the “Novel Year”.

An event to recognize this was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at Allari Palace yesterday (17).

Two portraits of Srilasree Arumuganavalar Peruman, realistically painted by world renowned painter M. Padmavasan, were unveiled by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa presented the portrait of Srila Sri Arumuganavalar Perumana to the Venerable Srila Sri Somasundara National Enlightenment Paramasarya Swamis and the Venerable Aksharathmananda Maharaj Swami, Head of the Ramakrishna Mission, Colombo.

The other work was presented to C. Dhanabala, Chairman of the Sreelasree Arumuganavalar Sabha, and V. Kandasamy, Secretary of the All Ceylon Hindu Council.
