The Israel Tax Authority published today (Thursday) data on the import of durable goods for the month of November 2022.

Import of vehicles:

-In November 2022, an import of 28,028 vehicles (private) was recorded compared to 25,439 in November 2021, an increase of 10.2%. Commercial vehicle imports amounted to 614 vehicles compared to 1,506 in November 2021, a decrease of 59.2%.

The increase is explained, among other things, by the advance of the import of vehicles as a result of the expected update of the green taxation formula and the expected increase in the purchase tax on the import of electric and plug-in vehicles on 1.1.23. It should be noted that in November 2021 there was a relatively high import of vehicles passengers, compared to an average normal month, otherwise the increase would probably have been more significant.

In the months of January-November 2022, the import of passenger vehicles amounted to 242,950 compared to 231,247 in the same period last year, an increase of 5.1%. Imports of commercial vehicles decreased by 12.8% during this period and reached the volume of – 9,864.

The trend data indicates an increase in the import of vehicles, after a decrease in the second half of 2021 and the beginning of 2022.

Electrical and electronic products:

In the month of November 2022, compared to November 2021, there was an increasing trend in the import of white electrical goods. In refrigerators, washing machines, clothes dryers and dishwashers there was an increase of 29.9%, 73.6%, 92.8% and 14.0% respectively.

Cumulatively, in January – November 2022, imports of white electrical goods are on an upward trend compared to the same period last year, except for refrigerators.

Imports of washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers increased by 6.7%, 12.3% and 28.7% respectively. Imports of refrigerators, on the other hand, decreased by 7.1%.

In the import of televisions, a decrease of 5.6% was recorded in November 2022 compared to November 2021. In aggregate, there is an increase of 5.9% in the import of televisions.

The value of cigarette imports increased by 16.8% in November 2022 compared to the same period last year. This follows the increase in September – October 2022 and after a decrease from the beginning of the year (except for the month of April).

The total value of all imports in November 2022 amounted to $7.8 billion, a decrease of 3.4% compared to the value of imports in November 2021.

Trend data indicate a moderate decrease in the value of imports after a prolonged increase starting in June 2020.

From the October 2022 data, it appears that there was a decrease in the marketing quantities of gasoline and diesel at the rates of 6.8% and 2.5% respectively. The decrease is explained by the lack of working days in October 2022 due to the holidays. In September – October 2022 it is an increase of 2.6% and 13.6% respectively compared to September – October 2021.
