The Red National of Shelters (RNR) warned that the decrease in 21.8 million pesos in the budget allocated to Shelters for him 2025puts the lives of raped women at risk and who have to flee from their attacker.
For this reason, the body called on the three orders of government so that they do not lose sight of the fact that 50% of the attackers of the women they treated during 2024 have military or political ties, in addition to using firearms.
“A reduction in the budget means putting the lives of thousands of women at risk who flee their homes due to violence, impunity and fear.
“Homes are not safe places. Reports from the RNR indicate that 30% of the women who have entered Shelters have lived up to five years with their attacker, in addition to not having support from the public bodies in charge of providing support and justice. 38% of women reported having requested help from the State without receiving results,” they noted.

RNR calls for action in favor of women’s shelters
RNR considered that “speeches without budgetary resources for women are demagogy.
“Last six-year term there was stagnation in the budget for Shelters and at the beginning of this new six-year term there is also defunding of the Shelters program, which is key to addressing and eliminating sexist violence with an unacceptable reduction of 21.8 million pesos,” he accused.
The RNR said that it is urgent to establish a commitment in favor of women.
“A true call to action that is backed by a progressive, multi-year budget for shelters that are a human right for women. And they are essential as long as violence persists in family, educational, cyber, work and community environments,” he added.
