Jaipur: After the first innings, Deepak Hooda scored a century in the second innings as Rajasthan took a good lead against Kerala in Ranji Trophy cricket. After taking a crucial first innings lead of 31 runs, Rajasthan were at 278 for the loss of five wickets at the end of the third day in the second innings. Deepak Hooda with 106 runs off 122 balls and KS Rathod with 48 runs at the crease. After falling to 94-4, Rajasthan fought back through Deepak Hooda. Abhijit Tomar (68) also shone with the bat for Rajasthan. Jalaj Saxena took three wickets for Kerala.

Sachin Baby, who remained unbeaten on 139 runs, struggled but had no one to support him. With the score at 292, Fanoos (9) and MD Nidhish (4) at 306, Rajasthan took a decisive first innings lead against Kerala. Sachin Baby scored 139 runs off 217 balls. Captain Sanju Samson scored 82 runs off 108 balls.

Rajasthan, who started the second innings with a lead of 31 runs, were initially shaken by Kerala. Rajasthan were crushed after YB Kothari (24) and Abhijeet Tomar (68) scored 47 runs for the opening wicket. Jalaj Saxen gave hope to Kerala by dismissing Kothari and Salman Farooq Khan (0). Deepak Hooda’s onslaught led Rajasthan to 94-4 when captain Ashok Meneria (19) was dismissed by Basil Thampi and Jalaj Saxena dropped the caught Tomar (68). Earlier, Deepak Hooda had shone with 133 runs in the first innings.
