Controversial actress Kangana Ranaut has been sued for defamation for allegedly sharing a defaced picture of Indian politician Rahul Gandhi. Senior Supreme Court lawyer Narendra Mishra has filed a defamation suit for Rs 40 crore (over Rs 56 crore in Bangladeshi currency).
Lawyer Narendra Mishra claimed that Kangana Ranaut violated the Information Technology Act by sharing a distorted picture of Rahul Gandhi despite being a Member of Parliament. He argued that this act tarnishes the image of the Gandhi family. A notice has been sent to Kangana.
A few days ago, Kangana shared a distorted picture of Rahul Gandhi on her Instagram story, mocking Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The picture depicted Rahul Gandhi with a phase cap, a yellow tilak on his forehead, and a Christian ‘cross’ locket hanging around his neck.
Kangana’s political troubles don’t end there. During the recent Lok Sabha elections, she was elected Member of Parliament from Mandi constituency in Himachal on a BJP ticket. However, she made headlines after being slapped by a constable at Chandigarh Airport.
Kangana’s latest release, ’Tejas,’ was a commercial failure, earning only 5.5 crore rupees at the box office despite a budget of 70 crore rupees. She is currently working on ‘Emergency’ and an untitled movie.
