CHENNAI: There has been a delay in the removal of machinery and equipment from Ennuar Thermal Power Station, which has stopped generating electricity.

Next to Ennuar, Chennai, the Power Board had the Ennuar Thermal Power Station with five units of 450 MW power generation capacity. It came into operation in 1970-75.

This thermal power plant, which had been functioning beyond its life span, was permanently shut down from March 2017 due to frequent repairs.

The Electricity Board has decided to set up a gas power plant with a capacity of 2000 MW at that place.

For this, the logistics including the generator in Ennuar Power Station are to be removed.

So the value of each device is evaluated according to the current market price and based on that the price is decided and sold.

In January, the Electricity Board invited the companies for the assessment work.

The delay in evaluation and quality by participating companies has led to delays in the sale process.

Due to this, there has been a delay in starting the work of Ennar gas power plant.

Ennuar Power Station was constructed at a cost of 270 crore rupees. Currently, Rs 2700 crore is required. The power plant has logistics worth crores of rupees. They will not be sold in a hurry. After the removal of logistics, steps will be taken to set up Ennuar Gas Power Plant.
