Bethesda studios have postponed the launch of Starfield, until September 6, for PC and Xbox Series X and S, however, the Starfield Direct version will be released next June, as the studio plans to take a deep look at the upcoming game.

Game director Todd Howard announced in a new video that Bethesda and Microsoft will hold a live event in Starfield on June 11 to provide comprehensive details about the game, then Bethesda’s showcase event for Starfield will be followed by Microsoft’s annual Xbox Showcase.

“This June, we’re going to bring you into the studio and give you an in-depth look at the game right in Starfield,” says Howard. In the teaser for the new launch date, shots of space stations and castle-like towers on deserted planets were shown.

An unseen narrator mentions a “major anomaly” and urges the player to investigate “the source of it all”, and the trailer concludes with visuals reminiscent of 2001: A Space Odyssey, featuring an astronaut drifting between massive circular rings in space.

Starfield takes place in space where players will assume the role of the last group of explorers called the Constellation. Game director Todd Howard described the game as “Skyrim in space” and can be played in both first and third person perspectives, with an emphasis on first person perspective.

Bethesda emphasizes character customization through a flexible system that allows players to customize skin color, facial features, hair, and more. In addition, players can choose three attributes to customize for their characters, and the skill system will have unlocks and different ranks. There will also be resources for crafting weapon modifications.
