Progress is moving forward, but travel times are getting longer. While the TGVs cross France at 320 km/h, the Intercités, the poor relations of high speed, slow down inexorably. In twenty years, the time to connect Paris to Clermont-Ferrand or Limoges, or even Bordeaux to Nantes or Marseille, has seriously lengthened. To reach Limoges from the capital, it took 195 minutes in 2019, compared to 166 in 2003 according to data on “the evolution of travel times” shared by the SNCF. Twenty-nine more minutes to cover 340 km!
