Delegations of Russia and Ukraine completed negotiations in Belarus

Negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations ended in the Gomel region of Belarus. The talks were held behind closed doors for about five hours.

As Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said, the main topic of today’s talks is a ceasefire in Ukraine. According to him, the parties “outlined certain solutions.” Now the delegations will leave for their capitals for consultations, and after that the second stage will take place, RIA Novosti reports.

Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky said that a new stage of negotiations would take place “in the near future” on the Polish-Belarusian border. According to him, “points by which common positions can be predicted” were found today. Mr. Podolyak said that “the outlined topics will receive specific development practice.”

The Russian delegation at the talks was headed by Mr. Medinsky. The delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Defense, the presidential administration and other departments.

The Ukrainian delegation, in addition to Mr. Podolyak, included Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, Deputy Foreign Minister Mykola Tochitsky, First Deputy Head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group Andriy Kostin, deputies David Arakhamia and Rustem Umerov. In Ukraine, since February 24, there has been a military special operation of Russia, launched by order of President Vladimir Putin.
