From a space in La Santa Market to invoicing more than a million euros. This is a very brief summary of the, so far, short career of delighta burger joint with just over two years of history.

delight it emerged as a gastronomic project by Alberto Gras and Rai Recoder. Gras came out of the eighth edition of MasterChef and Recoder had a communication agency. Their working relationship evolved into friendship and joint ventures. “We had the opportunity to set up a space in La Santa Market through some friends and that’s when we decided to get together. We thought we could make a good tandem”, says Rai Recoder. «We wanted to make a product that everyone has, like the hamburger, but flipping it around with different things that people may have never tasted inside a hamburger bun; whether it’s a carbonara hamburger, a cheek hamburger at a low temperature…», adds Alberto Gras.

After the success in La Santa Market, in 2022 the team chose to expand its proposal throughout the territory, and for this reason it closed a round of financing worth 360,000 euros. A year later he opened his first restaurant, in Barcelona, ​​repeated at La Santa Market, and also participated in the Cerdanya Music Festival in Llívia and was the official caterer for the Ondas Awards and Gaudí Awards. Along the way, Gerard Moreno was added as a partner and director of operations, to complete the current team at the head of the company.

This summer, delight has returned to La Santa Market in Santa Cristina d’Aro and from last July 1st until next September 15th you can taste its hamburgers in Llafranc. The burger joint reached an agreement with the BellaCosta restaurant. Both companies take over the premises so that BellaCosta offers breakfasts and lunches and from 6:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. Deleito sells hamburgers.

A possible future in Girona

At the beginning of 2023, the burger joint set three goals: to end the year with four restaurants, thirty employees and a turnover of more than a million euros. Gerard Moreno, one of the partners, explains that they have currently met almost all of these goals. now, they have a workforce of 42 workers and expect to reach a turnover of up to 1.4 million euros. However, Deleito is looking forward to increasing its presence with new premises. The burger joint has a restaurant in Barcelona, ​​another in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat and is building a third in Sant Cugat, in addition to having a food truck that travels to different locations.

The chain is still studying where it will open its next restaurant, despite the fact that the three partners advance that Girona could be the chosen one. “We are debating to see where we are going. If it makes sense to continue opening in Barcelona, ​​because it is a place where we have total saturation of our spaces and where the demand is growing and, therefore, perhaps it makes sense to continue opening in Barcelona. But it is true that Girona was also very much present in our planning. We know that we have a lot of audience there, Deleito was born in Girona» explains Rai Recoder.
