Frente Amplio candidate Yamandú Orsi recently commented on various political and social issues. Orsi said that although night raids could be a tool against drug trafficking, he does not consider modifying the Constitution to be the definitive solution. He raised the possibility that other options could be explored such as an interpretive law, instead of amending the Constitution.

Orsi also referred to the internal differences within the Broad Front regarding the Social Security referendum. Despite the differences, he emphasized freedom of speech within the coalition. A group of economists within the party expressed their opposition to the referendum, using the freedom given by the Frente Amplio to express their different views.
Regarding the criticism of the Communist Party and Casa Grande regarding this position, Orsi expressed his desire to engage in dialogue with his members to better understand the situation. Constanza Moreira, the leader of Casa Grande, recently emphasized the importance of maintaining cohesion between the Frente Amplio and the trade union movement in the electoral context.

In his reflection on the election campaign, Orsi emphasized the importance of intellectual honesty in political discourse. He admitted that candidates are often advised to make outrageous statements to attract the attention of the media, but he emphasized that his priority is transparency and depth in the discussion of proposals.
In terms of economic policy and competitiveness, Orsi analyzed the appreciation of the economy and its negative impact on export sectors, which, in his opinion, makes Uruguay an expensive country. Regarding Delgado’s proposal to reduce the cost of living, he emphasized that it would have been more effective if it had been implemented earlier, avoiding the current difficulties.
