New Delhi: Delhi Police has expanded the investigation into the Najafgarh murder case. Police has recovered the marriage certificate of Niki-Sahil couple. Police found that Sahil Gehlot married Niki Yadav in 2020 at an Arya Samaja temple in Greater Noida. Sources of Delhi Police informed that the marriage certificate of Sahil and Nikki was recovered during the investigation.
On February 10, Sahil Gehlot strangled Nikiyadav, a 25-year-old native of Haryana, to death with a data cable. After the incident, the accused kept the body in the fridge. In his statement to the police, the accused said that he killed Nikki to get another marriage.
After the information about the murder came out, the Delhi Police arrested five people, including the father of the main accused Sahil Gehlot. Police said Sahil’s friends and family members were involved in planning the murder. Also, Sahil’s father Virender Singh was arrested on conspiracy charges. According to officials, Section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code has been charged against him.
After an argument between the couple, Sahil strangled Nikki with a data cable kept in his car. The car used in the crime has been taken into custody by the police. A Delhi court remanded him in police custody for five days for further questioning.
