PSE Aims to Set Up 1,000 More Solar Roofs in Delhi

The power supply company in New Delhi, PSE, has been making strides in the promotion of solar energy. With 6,000 solar roofs already installed in the capital, the company has set its sights on adding an additional 1,000 solar roofs in the upcoming fiscal year 2024-2025.

In a recent statement, officials of P.S.E.S. revealed that Delhi currently boasts 3,650 solar roofs on houses, 1,087 on commercial premises, 939 on educational institutions, 85 on factories, and 129 on other locations. Furthermore, more than 100 residents’ associations in Delhi are eager to join the solar energy movement, with the potential to collectively save over 110 crore rupees per year.

According to PSE officials, solar electric roofing presents a dual benefit of reducing electricity bills and positively impacting the environment. The installation of each kilowatt of rooftop solar has the potential to generate 120 units of electricity per month, with the setup costs recouped in just four years. To put it in perspective, a typical 10 kilowatt solar rooftop installation with a monthly consumption of 1,200 units can save an estimated Rs 82,000 per year.

In light of these figures, PSE is poised to further its efforts in promoting solar energy in the capital city, and hopes to continue making strides in the reduction of electricity costs and the embracing of sustainable, environmentally-friendly technologies.
