A delivery man had his tricycle broken during an argument in Ipanema, in the south of Rio de Janeiro, last Friday (8). A video recorded by the boy shows the confusion. Mateus da Silva Ribeiro also registered a police report against the man who allegedly damaged the vehicle through aggression. Mateus told the Leblon police station, also in the south zone, that he was punched in the face while arguing with the man, apparently 60 years old, over the broken tricycle. In the recording circulating on social media, Mateus questions the man: “Did you run over my tire here, while walking?” And the man asks: “Who put the tire here?” The boy states: “You put the tire on.” At that moment the video ends abruptly with a noise that, according to Mateus’ version, was when the man started to attack. Still in the statement given to the police, Mateus says that he was making a delivery, on Rua Barão de Jaguaripe, when the man drove his car over the tricycle’s tire because he had refused to get out of the way of the vehicle, at the driver’s request. After the confusion, it is possible to see people passing by on the street helping Mateus collect the goods he was going to deliver scattered on the ground. After the confusion, Mateus recorded a statement on social media. He says he registered the case with the police. “I went there and filed a police report, I did what I had to do. And, bro, who’s saying: oh, why didn’t ‘you’ fight back? Why didn’t ‘you’ fight back? You’re ‘okay’ crazy, bro! How do you fight back? Did you see the guy? So, I fight back, I punch a crazy guy in the face so the guy pulls out a pistol and shoots me in the face? We’re in 2024. If the guy Take a shot, what’s my life like?” commented the young man during the recording. The Civil Police reported that they requested images from street security cameras to clarify the case.
