In the women’s pistol competition, the members of the field of 119 people completed the 60 shots of the basic competition in two groups.

Among our team, two young talents, 21-year-old Fábián and 19-year-old Jákó from Zzombo (Cél-Tudat SE) appeared in the first round. The start was better for the latter, he was in the lead with 196 rounds after 20 shots, but the continuation did not go well for him, he made several mistakes and constantly slipped back, he finished with 572 rounds and was 26th at the final count.

Meanwhile, two weeks ago at the University World Games, Fábián, who won a silver medal in both individual competitions two weeks ago, after starting in the top ten with 97 rounds, continued with two series of 95, which put him behind the leading group, but he excelled in the second half of the competition, shooting rounds of 97, 98 and 96, thus with 578 rounds was in third place in the group. He was in a very promising position, based on the results of the past years, the 578 rounds promised an almost certain finale. At the same time, many people in the second group shot excellently, and according to the live score tracking, Fábia was in 10th place until the last quarter of an hour, but in the end, due to the deterioration of his rivals, he moved forward and in seventh place, overall, easily entered the top eight.

It didn’t take long for Veronika Major to become a finalist as well, as the classic from Keszthely performed well after a weak start and finished in tenth place with 576 laps, and her result was the same as the eighth South Korean Kim Bo Mi, but the Asian shooter – and the ninth Austrian Sylvia For Steiner – he had several inner tens.

Fábián already had the Olympic quota right at the start of the final, as the Iranian Golnus Sebhatollahi did not enter the shooting range, the Greek Anna Korakaki and the German Doreen Vennekamp had already earned the right to participate in the Olympics, and there were also two Chinese pistol shooters in the field, but one each country can only qualify once in this competition

Two weeks ago at the World University Games, Fábián, a silver medalist in both individual pistol events (air and sport), as well as with the air pistol team, finished in fourth place in the finals with a score of 198.9 rounds.

The Hungarian trio finished the team competition with 1726 laps, winning the silver medal. Jákó’s team was two laps behind the winning Chinese, while they were ahead of the bronze medalist Iranians by two.
