The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) held another currency auction on July 25, Day.Az reported on Thursday, citing the CBA.

CBA data show that demand at the auction amounted to US$55.2 million (a 32.68 percent, or US$26.8 million, decline compared to the previous auction) and was fully satisfied.

It should be noted that at the previous currency auction, demand was 82 million dollars.

The average weighted exchange rate following the auction was 1.7 AZN/1 USD.

Since the beginning of the year, 4.067 billion dollars have been purchased at currency auctions. The maximum demand for currency was recorded at the auction held on February 13, 2024 – 151.1 million dollars. In January 2024, 417.1 million dollars were purchased at currency auctions, in February – 870.6 million dollars, in March – 498.3 million dollars, in April – 623.4 million dollars, in May – 558.6 million dollars. in June – 581 million dollars.

Let us recall that in 2023, 3.836 billion dollars were purchased at currency auctions.

The Central Bank of the Russian Federation began conducting currency auctions through the unilateral sale of currency under competitive conditions in mid-January 2017.
