Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAB) has demanded to maintain the minimum quota of 50 pilgrims per agency this year for the sake of smooth and orderly Hajj management. The organization said that only then there will be no possibility of a syndicate in the field of Hajj management.

Demand to keep a minimum quota of 50 pilgrims per agency

Hub Secretary General Farooq Ahmed Sarkar has recently written to the Secretary of Religion with such a proposal.

It is said that there are about 1170 Hajj agencies licensed by the Ministry of Religion. Most of their activities are active. In the past, the Hajj agency had a minimum quota of 50 pilgrims. Later it was increased to 150 people. In 2019, the minimum quota is 100 and the maximum quota is 300.

According to Hub, Bangladeshi pilgrims have received better services in proper Hajj management due to the minimum quota of 50 pilgrims per agency in the past. But due to the increase in the agency’s quota, there has been a shortfall in that service. Because most of the Hajj pilgrims are elderly, most of the traffic roads in Makkah Mukarram and Madinah Monawara are high and low, hostile weather conditions and unfamiliar areas make it difficult for Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims to travel smoothly without assistance. As a result, there is a disruption in the service due to the large number of people present at the agency. This time too there will be extreme chaos in Hajj management.

According to Hub, the agency has to provide direct service to every pilgrim. So the smaller the quota number of pilgrims, the easier the service will be. We believe that if the minimum number of pilgrims per agency is 50 and the maximum number is more than 300, it will hinder the direct service to pilgrims. If the Hajj activities are conducted keeping the number of Hajj pilgrims to a minimum of 50 per agency, it will be easy to ensure 100% of all the services required by the Hajj pilgrims.
