In Kulithalai taluk, since the food safety officer has not been on duty for 3 years, on the occasion of Diwali festival, substandard food products are being produced and sold liberally.
More than 100 bakeries, more than 75 hotels, more than 75 grocers, oil and open-air hotels are operating in Kulithalai taluka of Karur district. People are buying and using these products in these shops. The concerned Food Safety Officer should check the quality of the snacks sold here.
However, since the food safety officer in Kulithalai taluk has not been in service for more than 3 years, the food safety officer from Paramathi is taking additional responsibility. Due to this, they are currently producing and selling snacks using substandard oil and products to sell to the public on the occasion of Diwali. People who buy and eat these substandard products are suffering from physical ailments and are spending money in hospitals.
Therefore, the general public and social activists have requested the collector to immediately appoint a food safety officer in Kulidhalai taluk and take action to fine and seal the shops that manufacture substandard food products.
