The Democratic Left party (ID), list 12, led by Analía Ledesma, is making efforts to overcome an internal crisis before starting official dialogues with other stores and political leaders towards the 2025 national elections.

The dispute for absolute control of the party once again distracts the orange flag leadership. Those who questioned the recognition of Analía Ledesma as national president of the party, and who went to the Contentious Electoral Court, today are once again seeking her departure and affecting the institutionality of that political tent.

For this purpose there were two attempts at conventions in Guayaquil and Machala, but they were challenged by several ID directors, taking into account that the only president of the electoral council of the ID and registered in the National Electoral Council is Marco Tituaña.

Ledesma comments that in view of the 2025 elections, he has proceeded to strengthen the party structures in the provinces, especially in Pichincha, where 135 directors were appointed to make links with territory leaders.

At the national level, the process of restructuring the provincial directives continues and those who do not join in this purpose will have a democratic election, taking into account that some provincial presidents have been extended for six and eight years.

Despite all these scenarios, Analía Ledesma and her board are preparing for the general elections, for which they plan to hold a national party convention in the month of June. The leader assures that she enjoys the endorsement of the historical leader of the party, Rodrigo Borja.

“I will do everything in my power, but you cannot call a national convention with extended presidents who are helping their friends and arrogating functions to themselves,” says Ledesma, who announces that the primaries will determine the list. of candidates for the assembly where the main requirement will be to be a social democrat.

Once this stage has been passed, talks will officially begin with the left and including the current President of the Republic, Daniel Noboa, whom Ledesma points out is doing a good job, although the ID does not agree with the increase in VAT; However, he says that they are open to talking with the president.

Dalton Bacigalupo, former Cotopaxi legislator and party leader, comments that the ID is experiencing a new crisis within the party and there are old leaders who do not believe in generational change and who intend to set up a false national party convention in order to appoint a new board to replace Analía Ledesma.

The former assemblyman says that it is the old leadership that intends to continue manipulating the party and, therefore, they want to ignore Ledesma. It is that old leadership that wants to “continue climbing in Daniel Noboa’s government,” he replies.

Bacigalupo maintains that it is important to resolve the crisis first and in parallel continue with approaches with political leaders, since everyone knows that one of the presidential candidates is Daniel Noboa, current President of the Republic, who is recruiting followers within the Democratic Left.

Another candidate is Carlos Rabascall, who has indicated that he hopes for upcoming conversations with the ID, other political sectors have called for national convergence; “We are open to dialogue with all political options in the country that aspire to the Presidency of the Republic,” emphasizes the former orange legislator.
