Park Chan-dae “Lee Jae-myung will never die… “Not guilty in the court of history”
The Democratic Party of Korea convened an emergency meeting on the 16th, expressing strong regret over Representative Lee Jae-myung’s conviction for violating the Public Official Election Act. The Democratic Party resolved to respond by uniting around Representative Lee.
In his opening remarks, floor leader Park Chan-dae said, “Yesterday’s ruling can be summed up in one word: it punishes memories and punishes emotions,” adding, “It was a day when the rule of law was suffocated and judicial justice collapsed. He claimed, “This is how history will record November 15, 2024.”
Floor Leader Park raised his voice, saying, “The petty and shameless attempt to maintain power in a crisis by eliminating political opponents will ultimately be frustrated,” and “The Kim Kun-hee-Yoon Seok-yeol administration will never win over our people.”
At the meeting that day, the Democratic Party strengthened its solidarity by reading a condemnation that included the disbandment of political prosecutors, condemnation of the Yoon Seok-yeol regime, and calls for judicial justice.
Chief Spokesperson Cho Seung-rae said in his condemnation speech, “The National Chairman and all members of the National Assembly gathered here express strong regret over the first trial ruling that unilaterally accepted the manipulated and distorted indictment of political prosecutor Yoon Seok-yeol,” adding, “In addition, the prosecutorial dictatorship’s dictatorship Yoon Seok-yeol’s rigged investigation to eradicate political opponents.
” “We strongly condemn it,” he said.
Spokesperson Cho said, “We clearly warn the Yoon Seok-yeol dictatorship,” and added, “Even if we do our best to kill Representative Lee Jae-myung, Lee Jae-myung will not fall. The Democratic Party will believe in Representative Lee and the people and unite more tightly to fight. “We will prevent the regression of democracy and history against the ruthless prosecution dictatorship of Yoon Seok-yeol,” he emphasized.
After the emergency joint meeting, the Democratic Party will attend the Gwanghwamun rally jointly held by the five opposition parties and continue its off-site struggle to condemn the Yoon Seok-yeol government.
