“Presidential apology and dismissal of vice ministers are natural prerequisites”
“Yeo Choo Kyung-ho, parents appear to be ‘shields against medical crisis’”
The Democratic Party of Korea announced on the 14th regarding the formation of a bipartisan consultative body to resolve the medical crisis, “We will further pressure the government to create the minimum conditions that the medical community can accept.”
In a written briefing that day, Democratic Party floor spokesperson Noh Jong-myeon said, “It seems highly unlikely that the proposed bipartisan consultative body, in which the conflicting parties, the government and the medical community, as well as the ruling and opposition parties, would be able to find a solution together, will be operational before Chuseok.”
Roh Moo-hyun, the floor leader’s spokesperson, said, “Up until now, the opposition party, civil society, and the medical community have made extremely natural and basic demands, such as the government’s acceptance of responsibility, an apology, dismissal of those responsible, and a re-discussion from the beginning,” adding, “We have never asked for all of these demands to be accepted at once.”
He added, “Considering the confusion and anxiety the people are experiencing, an apology from the president and the dismissal of ministers and vice ministers are natural prerequisites,” and “Nevertheless, the Democratic Party created several opportunities through questions to the government to get the prime minister to accept responsibility and apologize.”
Roh’s floor spokesperson criticized, “However, the prime minister was busy shouting and defending the president. It was like he kicked the table on purpose.”
Meanwhile, he raised his voice, saying, “While trying to convince the medical community that it is possible to revisit the original discussion on the scale of increasing medical school students, officials from the presidential office and others repeatedly leaked to the press that 2025 is absolutely impossible. This cannot happen unless they are determined to break the mold.”
He criticized Minister of Education Lee Ju-ho, saying, “I said that if we just hold out for six months, we will win, but I thought that the dangerous forces, including Minister Lee, would be weakened by the sudden rise of the ruling and opposition parties. However, after looking at the situation over the past week, it is clear that the dangerous forces are still the mainstream of the Yoon Seok-yeol government.”
Roh Moo-hyun, the floor leader’s spokesperson, emphasized, “They simply needed a tool to divert the public’s attention and buy time as the damage caused by the medical crisis began to pile up and the risk to Ms. Kim Kun-hee grew like a snowball.”
Towards the People Power Party, he said, “Right after the medical community announced their non-participation yesterday, floor leader Choo Kyung-ho said something that made people doubt their ears. Regarding the issue of re-discussing the original point, he said, ‘The opposition party should ask the students and parents questions. ’”
Roh’s floor spokesperson claimed, “It is clear that they expected that if they just stalled for time, students and parents who wanted to go to medical school would side with the government and fight on their behalf. As next year’s college entrance exams get underway, they seem unable to hide their sinister expectations.”
He then asked, “It breaks my heart that we have to discuss and compete with this level of political power and state affairs. How angry must the people be?”
Roh’s floor spokesperson emphasized, “The Democratic Party, together with the people, will put more pressure on the government to create the minimum conditions that the medical community can accept. I hope that you will not get sick during this Chuseok holiday.”
