jpnn.com – JAKARTA – A number of elements of society demonstrated to demand the removal of Budi Gunawan as Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) in the Horse Statue area, Monas, Gambir, Central Jakarta, Monday (18/3).
The mass action of the Council to Save Indonesian Sovereignty (Desak-In) was carried out by means of simultaneous silence from the participants.
However, a group of unknown men wearing casual clothes broke up the action.
The group of men forcibly confiscated props such as cardboard boxes measuring 30×30 cm with various writings demanding action.
The mass action demanded BIN’s neutrality in the 2024 election process and urged the removal of the Head of BIN for alleged acts of non-neutrality in the 2024 election process.
According to Antara’s report, there are six points of mass demands, namely:
- Regarding the replacement of the Head of BIN Budi Gunawan by President Joko Widodo
- Reassurance that BIN remains neutral and focused on its duties to maintain the security and stability of the country
- Restrictions on BIN’s involvement in internal political affairs, such as support for certain political parties or candidates
- Ensuring balance in gathering information and providing objective analysis without bias towards certain groups or interests.
- Enforcing the confidentiality of information obtained by BIN and preventing misuse of data and positions for political or personal interests
- Increase transparency and accountability in BIN’s operations and activities to build public trust in the institution.
This action also raised the issue of neutrality of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in the context of the 2024 elections, highlighting the importance of maintaining integrity and professionalism in government.
As the main pillar in serving society, ASN is expected to be able to carry out its duties without any political interference that threatens neutrality.
