Demonstrators spent hours at Sara’s hair salon • Netanyahu denounced: “Shameful”

by time news

About a thousand people protested this evening (Wednesday) at a hair salon in Madinah Square in Tel Aviv, where the Prime Minister’s wife Sara Netanyahu was staying.

Dozens of protesters discovered that the Prime Minister’s wife Sara Netanyahu was getting her hair cut at a hair salon in Madinah Square in Tel Aviv and rushed to gather outside the salon and chant derogatory chants: “Shame” and “The lady is giving us a haircut”, “Capital-rule-underworld”, “The country is on fire and Sara is getting a haircut” , and “F-S-I-K-W-L-W-G-Y-T”.

As a result, hundreds more protesters who had previously participated in a protest against the reform of the judicial system poured into the place. They gathered in front of the entrance to the barbershop, while the security guards of the Prime Minister’s wife put gravel between them and the barbershop.

Police forces were called to the place to reinforce her security guards, when the protesters announce: “She will not be allowed to leave the barber shop.”

Netanyahu was unable to leave the place for a long time. The barbershop curtains were drawn and the prime minister’s wife could not be seen.

Only after 23:00 at night, after more than two hours, and after policemen confronted the protesters – Sara Netanyahu was safely rescued from the siege.

Sara Netanyahu’s book told News 12, after the end of the drama: “I’m in a storm of emotions, she calmed me down.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attacked on his Twitter account: “The anarchy activists led by Lapid continue to cross red lines. They are currently harassing and threatening my wife in Tel Aviv. I call on Lapid and the opposition to stop this immediately and condemn this shameful act that was unprecedented.”

Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir commented on the protesters’ siege of the barber shop: “A group of privileged anarchists who cannot come to terms with a stinging loss in the elections and the loss of power, are upset about the Prime Minister’s wife and to hell with freedom of movement. “Democracy, dammit.”

He added: “I support the police to act quickly and as necessary, to protect her life.”

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Yariv Levin: “The siege on the Prime Minister’s wife, Mrs. Sara Netanyahu, is crazy and unprecedented. Those who thought that the anarchy would stop with roadblocks and jumping on tables in the Knesset, discovered tonight that when violence and disturbances are allowed it does not stop there. It’s time to apply the rule of law to those who speak in the name of the rule of law, but trample on the law and the individual rights of anyone who doesn’t think like them.”

Minister Nir Barkat: “I am shocked by the violent siege on the Prime Minister’s wife Sara Netanyahu. This is an illegal and violent act and a strong action must be taken against anyone who acts violently in the State of Israel. Every citizen is allowed to demonstrate, but there is no excuse for anarchism and violence. I call on the police to put an end to this immediately.”

Member of Knesset Tzaga Malko of the Likud: “In Israel 2023, the prime minister’s wife cannot leave the house without fearing for her life.” Tonight we crossed a red and dangerous line here. You lost it, big time. Sarah… a hug!”

The opposition leader Yair Lapid only tweeted after a long time: “I call on the demonstrators in Madinah Square to allow Sarah Netanyahu to go to her house. Your struggle and ours is against the regime coup and the destruction of democracy.”
