A suspected case of Dengue in Brescia. The infection was reported by the local Ats to the Municipality which today announced the start of “a specific and widespread anti-mosquito intervention in the via Savoldo area”. This is what the administration communicates in a note, recalling that Dengue is “a flu-like disease caused by a virus present in tropical and subtropical countries which is transmitted” precisely “through the bite of certain types of mosquitoes. there is direct transmission from person to person”, specifies the Municipality.

The national plan for prevention, surveillance and response to arboviruses 2020-2025, issued by the Ministry of Health, the note continues, in these cases provides for measures to contain mosquitoes, possible vectors of viral diseases between the potentially infected subject and the surrounding environment. The Municipality of Brescia therefore, in compliance with the requirements received from the Ats, starting from 6 am tomorrow, Tuesday 5 September, will carry out a mosquito disinfestation treatment (both withadulticides and larvicides) “within a radius of 200 meters from the home where the person who may have contracted the virus lives, to drastically and rapidly reduce the population of the vector insect and therefore the risk of a hypothetical contagion”.
The intervention will concern all the public areas and, subsequently, the external private areas. “Everyone is asked for maximum collaboration, so that operations can be carried out safely and quickly”, explains the Municipality. “It is recommended not to enter the treated areas at least until the end of the disinfestation, to keep doors and windows closed and to suspend the functioning of the air exchange systems. Pets must remain indoors. Furniture and games for children, left outside and exposed to the treatment, they must be washed with common detergents, using washable or disposable gloves. The vegetable gardens will not be involved in the disinfestation and it will be possible to use the internal/private courtyards 5 hours after the treatment”.
