Authorities in Denmark and Sweden are carrying out investigations after explosions and shots that were recorded on the perimeter of the Israeli embassies in Copenhagen and Stockholmcorresponding capitals.
After the launch of missiles by Iran against Israeli territory, which increased international tension, the Danish police reported the arrest of three Swedish citizens after two explosions in the “proximity” of the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen.
Through a press conference, Jens Jespersen, security spokesman in the capital, indicated that “two explosions occurred at 3:20 a.m. at the Israeli embassy. “It is our preliminary assessment that it was due to two hand grenades.” Furthermore, he mentioned that the three detainees, among 15 and 20 yearswere captured in connection with the attack.
Despite the place and context where the events occurred, Jakob Hansen, Danish spokesman, stressed that “it is too early to say if there is a link” between the explosions and the Israeli embassy.
While in Stockholm, authorities reported that the Israeli embassy was also subject to a shooting “shortly before 6:00 p.m.” No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.
However, the Danish intelligence service, PET, stressed that already the monitor “closely” and collaborates in the police investigation.
“We are also in dialogue with the Israeli embassy regarding security, and we are constantly assessing the scale of security measures already implemented in relation to several Jewish locations,” PET concluded.
Previously, Denmark strengthened its border controls with Sweden in the face of rising gang violence. For its part, Swedish intelligence Sapo accused Iran of using Swedish gangs to perpetrate violent acts against Israel, which Tehran denied.
