Denmark has rejected a request from the Russian Football Union (RFU) to admit fans from Russia to the Euro 2020 match in Copenhagen, which will be held on June 21. “This question was forwarded by the Danish Football Association to the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, no exceptions to the current restrictions on entry across the border were provided, ”the statement says.

The RFU sent a request to UEFA for the admission of Russian fans to the match with the participation of the Russian national team on June 1. Against the backdrop of restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, the Danish authorities have banned entry into the country for tourism purposes. As the Danish Embassy in Russia explained, attending Euro 2020 is tourism. Despite the Danish authorities’ ban on entry into the country, the UEFA organizing committee allowed foreign fans to attend matches in St. Petersburg with Fan ID and negative PCR test for COVID-19.

The European Football Championship will be held from June 11 to July 11 in 11 cities. Tournament games will be hosted by St. Petersburg, Amsterdam, Baku, Budapest, Bucharest, Glasgow, Copenhagen, London, Rome, Munich and Seville. On June 21, at the Parken stadium in Copenhagen, three matches of the tournament will take place, including the Russia-Denmark match. Also, the arena will host the games Denmark-Finland (June 12) and Denmark-Belgium (June 17).
