Denver and Eastern Plains Christmas Weekend Weather Forecast: Rain, Snow, and Winter Storm Watch

by time news

Denver, Colorado – Get ready for a white Christmas as snow is expected to fall in the Denver area overnight Saturday and into Christmas Eve on Sunday. According to CBS News, the worst conditions will be on the Eastern Plains and in the mountains.

The Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the Eastern Plains Saturday night due to the combination of snow and wind. Gusts up to 50 mph, along with 3-6 inches of snow mostly east of Deer Trail, could prompt road closures due to blowing and drifting snow. Visibility could be near zero.

For the Front Range and plains, light snow could continue through Sunday evening, with the mountains also seeing lighter snowfall than on Saturday. By late Sunday night, much of the snow should be wrapping up and moving on. However, there will still be a chance for light snow or flurries during the Broncos game on Sunday evening.

As for Christmas Day, there could be a few light flurries in the morning, but overall it will be chilly with some clouds. The sun may make an appearance, but it will still be a chilly Colorado day.

But the winter weather isn’t over yet. The next storm is expected to arrive in Colorado at almost the exact same time next weekend, with potentially snowy conditions on the final day of the year next Sunday.

So, make sure to bundle up and be prepared for winter driving conditions if you plan to be out and about in Colorado this weekend and into next week. Stay updated on weather forecasts and road conditions as the winter weather continues.
