The Denver Metro Area and Front Range Covered in Snow After Cold Front Moves In

DENVER — The Denver metro area and Front Range were blanketed in snow on Friday as a cold front moved into Colorado, bringing strong winds to the foothills and mountains west of Denver. The National Weather Service reported several inches of snow across the area, with the high country seeing nearly a foot of snow accumulation.

As of Saturday morning, some parts of the Denver metro area had accumulated nearly 6 inches of snow, while the official monitoring station in Denver only reported 0.4 inches. Other snow totals in the surrounding areas included 11 inches in Crescent Village, 10.7 inches in Genesee, and 10 inches in Winter Park.

The snowfall caused dangerous driving conditions, leading to multiple accidents and delays on metro Denver roads. The winter weather also prompted the closure of some mountain roads due to hazardous conditions.

The National Weather Service encouraged residents to exercise caution while driving and to be prepared for winter weather conditions. Authorities also advised residents to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts and road conditions.
