The film, which will be released in Czech cinemas on October 30, follows Donald Trump’s rise to power, his first trials and the influence that lawyer Roy Cohn had on him. He was portrayed by Jeremy Strong from the series Power Struggle.

“How do you always win?” Trump asks him in the trailer. “It has its own rules. And the first rule is: attack, attack, attack,” Cohn replies. “The second rule: admit nothing and deny everything. The third rule: no matter what happens, always call yourself a winner and never admit defeat,” he advises.

The biopic about Donald Trump’s early days is named after his reality competition show. It was created without the politician’s approval and shortly after its premiere at the May festival in Cannes, France, it caused a stir. Because it contains a scene in which the protagonist rapes his first wife, Trump has already announced that he will sue the authors. The first wife of the future president Ivana Trump, a Czech woman born Zelníčková, is played by the Bulgarian native Maria Bakalová, known from the satirical comedy about Borat.

Trump in the book by the American journalist Harry Hurt III. published in the early 90s of the last century, she spoke about “sexual intercourse, which she called rape”, saying that she does not want her statement to be interpreted in a criminal sense. According to her, the situation occurred in 1989 during the divorce proceedings.

The episode was again brought to the attention of The Daily Beast in 2015, when Trump was running for the Republican presidency of the United States. By that time, Trump did not repeat the accusations, on the contrary, she objected and supported her ex-husband. “Donald and I are the best of friends. We raised three children together that we love and are very proud of,” she responded when the server approached her with the question of whether her ex-husband had raped her.

Trump also denied the allegations. “It already follows from the definition that you cannot rape your own wife,” defended the politician, his lawyer at the time, Michael Cohen. Ivana Trump did not have time to comment on the new film. She died in 2022, she was 73 years old.
