The Director General of the Department of Disease Control, Dr. Thongchai Keeratihatthayakorn, has announced that 80% of dengue fever patients are returning home for treatment, with many failing to apply mosquito repellent. This has led to an increase in the risk of Aedes mosquitoes biting and spreading the disease. As a result, the Department of Disease Control is preparing a prognosis for diseases and health hazards in 2024 and will be presenting it at a meeting of the National Communicable Disease Committee next week.

Dr. Thongchai emphasized the importance of using mosquito repellent as a preventive measure, stating that it should be considered as part of the medical supplies for dengue fever patients. He also mentioned the need to campaign for the inclusion of mosquito repellent in the national health security benefit package or gold card.

The Department of Disease Control is taking proactive measures to control the spread of dengue fever and other communicable diseases. The upcoming meeting will provide an opportunity to address these issues and propose solutions to protect public health in Thailand.]
