Departures on vacation: a union calls Transavia staff to strike

by time news

Aircraft traffic is still likely to be disrupted in the coming days. The SNPNC-FO union, which represents the hostesses and stewards of the airline Transavia France, a subsidiary of Air France-KLM, is calling for a strike from Wednesday July 13 to Sunday July 17.

The union is demanding wage increases and denouncing the working conditions of flight personnel, said a statement quoted by Reuters.

A non-representative union, indicates the Transavia France Management in a press release, ensuring that it “will do everything possible to ensure its entire flight program over the entire period”. “At this stage, no strike day has been declared” to date, adds the company, which says “to regret this social movement which occurs at a time when air transport as a whole is barely recovering from a crisis without previous “.

This announcement comes as employees of Paris airports voted on Friday morning to lift their strike notice after obtaining salary increases, in extremis before the start of the influx of major holiday departures.

Gathered in a general meeting at Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle, these employees ratified an agreement providing for a general increase of 3% for all employees of the ADP group, manager of airport facilities, noted an AFP journalist.

To this 3% increase is added a revaluation of the salary scales and an upgrade of the remuneration of some 1,800 employees whose salaries are lower than the reference level of 2019, according to the details communicated by the CGT.

In 2021, employees of state-controlled ADP agreed to pay cuts to help the company through the Covid-19 crisis.

The group has also implemented a voluntary redundancy plan and has undertaken to ensure that salaries return to their pre-crisis level as soon as the effects of the latter on traffic have dissipated. However, some routes have already exceeded their 2019 activity levels and the ADP group expects to make a profit this year, after losing more than 1.4 billion euros cumulatively between 2020 and 2021.
