Failure to curb air and water pollution, as well as care for the environment, sick trees“environmental justice will not come,” were part of the conclusions that were given in a parliament on the environment that was organized by the Congress of Mexico City.
In this first Parliament of the Environment A total of 60 people participated, including legislators, academics and members of civil organizations, who chose a Board of Directors to develop the work, in which a total of 28 initiatives and 31 proposals with points of agreement were presented.
The commission of Environmental Preservation, Climate Change and Ecological Protection of the Congress of Mexico Citywhich is chaired by PRI member Tania Larios, stressed that it is necessary to apply the rules, intensify the work and toughen the sanctions for those who cause ecological damage.
The approved initiatives and proposals corresponded to topics such as water forests, implementation of a carbon tax, adding a section in the Environmental Law The work was completed in relation to a citizen audit on environmental education, the creation of procedures and actions by the 16 municipalities on animal protection and care, regulating taxidermy and creating specialized groups to strengthen education in this area.
