Representative Ahumada, president of the Energy Commission of the Chamber, explained that “this is a clear and precise way to be able to deliver the benefit in a prompt, rapid manner and without so many problems.”

The deputies who make up the technical table of electricity rates announced the presentation of a bill to allow 600 thousand delinquent customers to apply for the Government’s electricity subsidy.

The proposal was submitted by Yovana Ahumada (IND)Marco Sulantay (UDI), Marcela Riquelme (FA) and Cristian Tapia (IND-PPD), where they request that the requirement of not being in debt to receive the benefit is eliminated.

The legislators indicated that the Executive committed to supporting the initiative, ensuring that “We know that there is a verbal agreement between Minister Pardow and the electricity distributors so that an agreement can be made with a down payment and 10 months without interest, but we want to legalize it.“Let this remain on paper and bring peace of mind to people.”

Representative Ahumada, president of the Energy Commission of the Chamber, explained that “this is a clear and precise way to be able to deliver the benefit in a prompt, rapid manner and without so many problems.”

For her part, Representative Riquelme said that, in the case of defaulters, “the SEC has asked distributors to pay 10% and renegotiate the rest in up to 10 interest-free installments.”

For the legislator, “This means that these people, in addition to paying the increase, will have to pay the amortization or the installments of this same debt. Therefore, they will have to pay more and more.”
