The President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, said she was “appalled” on Sunday by the presence of LFI deputies and environmentalists at the rally in memory of Adama Traoré, banned by the authorities, the leader of the Renaissance deputies. , Aurore Bergé, denouncing “an obvious provocation”.

“I am appalled to see elected officials of the Nation, sporting the tricolor scarf, mute and smiling while hearing demonstrators chant everyone hates the police”, tweeted the holder of the perch. “To condone disrespect and hatred towards our police forces is to knowingly damage the Republic”, added the elected Renaissance.

“The provocation, it is double when you are an elected representative of the Republic”, abounded Aurore Bergé, interviewed at the Grand Rendez-vous d’Europe 1 / CNews. La France insoumise “voluntarily goes to illegal demonstrations to try to make people believe that we live here, in France, in an authoritarian country”.

About 2,000 people took part in the march in Paris on Saturday in memory of Adama Traoré, who died 7 years ago shortly after his arrest by the gendarmes. For fear of public order disturbances after the recent urban violence, this gathering had been banned by the police headquarters. A dozen elected LFI and EELV were still present and denounced the behavior of several police officers, in particular during the muscular arrest of one of Adama’s brothers, Youssouf. The latter was still hospitalized on Sunday and his police custody was lifted.

The ban on walking, “a provocation”

In the context of the riots which followed the death of Nahel, 17, during a police check, “the banning of the Adama march was a provocation”, estimated Sunday on BFMTV the boss of rebellious deputies, Mathilde Panot, present at this meeting. “People need to march peacefully to express both their anger and their demand,” she added, calling for “a basement to attic policing overhaul.”

Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne has repeatedly denounced LFI’s refusal to call for calm during the urban violence, accusing it of leaving the “republican field”.

“Is it being a member of the Republican arc to go to demonstrations where everyone says everyone hates the police? Obviously, no”, abounded Aurore Bergé, renaming the movement created by Jean-Luc Mélenchon “La France incendiary”, words already used by the president of the National Rally Jordan Bardella.
