The Social Security and Housing commissions of the Chamber of Deputies received on Tuesday a reform initiative from the federal Executive that modifies the Law of the Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers to grant Fovissste housing loans.

The Board of Directors of the Lower House turned to these two commissions – chaired by deputies from Morena and the PT – the proposal of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, which seeks to “modify the way in which the credits granted by the Housing Fund are assigned of the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (Fovissste).

The initiative proposes reforming this loan allocation in three aspects: First, in terms of its determination in Measurement and Update Units (UMA) or in pesos, which would be left to the choice of the beneficiary, who could restructure it.

Second, in relation to the application registration period, which would become continuous, under the determined eligibility criteria. And third, with respect to the salary reference for the assignment of the credit, which could be the pension, the base salary and, where appropriate, this together with the compensation that corresponds in terms of the applicable provisions.

The commissions received the initiative and began the task of analysis and revision for its opinion, discussion and subsequent vote among its members, to later turn it over to the plenary session of the 500 deputies for debate and voting.
