Recent attacks on schools with murders in São Paulo and Santa Catarina sparked a flurry of bills across the country aimed at the security of schools, kindergartens and universities.

A study of Sheet points out that at least 102 bills were proposed in the Legislative Assemblies of the 26 states and in the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District in the last 30 days related to security in educational units.

Most of the projects propose the installation of revolving doors, metal detectors, exclusive entrances, construction of high walls, searches in backpacks and even facial recognition for access to teaching units.

In at least four states, the bills have already been approved by state representatives this week after going through a lightning process.
